In April, Prime Minister Theresa May surprised the whole country by calling for an election on 8th June. While unexpected, this campaign season brings opportunities for Christians to engage in the process and shape both the policies which are proposed and the atmosphere in which we debate them.

We are encouraging Christians to ask themselves, and the candidates running for election, what kind of society do we want? Take a look at the Evangelical Alliance’s election resources, focusing on the themes of love, freedom, justice and truth.

Pray for all those elected in the local council elections and those standing in the General Election in June, that they would be honest, gracious and have a servant heart.

Ask God to help the electorate make wise decisions and that his will be done.

Continue to pray too for the people of nations who do not enjoy our democratic freedoms and for    those persecuted for their faith.
