Will everyone believe? After a long period of reasoning with and persuading the people of Ephesus, Paul faces opposition from the hard-liners and there’s a riot throughout the city. In this session, based on Acts 19 v 21-41, we’ll learn how Paul responded, and how he determined to continue with his mission.

When Paul visits Ephesus he meets a group of believers who do not know Jesus and a group of fraudsters who use the name of Jesus without actually knowing Him. The ned result is one group comes to fully believe and the other group learns their error the hard way, resulting in many others turning to Christ.

How can I grow in my Christian faith? No Christian knows it all, and we all have much to learn. As Paul reaches the end of his second missionary journey we see how God leads him and those he is working with, and we’ll see what we can learn from their examples.

How can I witness in an immoral world? Paul’s journey takes him to Corinth, a place so immoral that ‘to Corinthianise’ meant to live immorally. Yet Paul still wants to tell the good news about Jesus. How does he live and work? What can we learn from his example?

Does the Gospel make sense? In Acts 17 v 16-34 Paul finds himself in Athens, the home of many of the great thinkers of the ancient world. He’s upset about the idolatry and worship of mythological gods that stop even these great thinkers from finding the true God and he engages in debate in the synagogue and in the agora – the market place where intellectuals gathered to debate new ideas. Is it easy to share your faith? In the first fifteen verses of Acts 17 we can see how Paul set about reaching others and how they responded.

It is inevitable that Christians will face difficult situations, and in Acts 16 we find Paul and Silas facing severe hardships. Their example is a witness to those around them, so we consider how we can learn from their attitude and behaviour. And, in a change from the normal pattern, this study doesn’t ask you to pause the video, it just picks up on some puzzling questions that help us to understand the passage.
